One thing you cannot ignore here at Hope Mountain is, well, the mountains! I am from Colorado so naturally I love the mountains. How can you not? Sometimes I laugh to myself and think, they are just some big rocks that I cannot help but stare at. But in the end, I get it, there are so many biblical connections and references to the majestic creations that you cannot help but look at them and see God. I love driving through the mountains, feeling the cool air in my hair as I look out the window and inevitably utter the words “how can people not believe there is a God when they see this?” And dang don’t I mean that. It’s mind-blowing. I love being here at Hope Mountain and seeing the green range everywhere I look. Not only because it’s beautiful, or it reminds me of home (because the Colorado mountains could not be more different haha), but because of how much God can speak through this view.

I was in Costa Rica for missions before I came to the Dominican Republic, and I actually got a little pinky finger tattoo of the mountains! I’ll say it again, I LOVE THE MOUNTAINS! I encouraged friends to ask me what it meant when I posted a little picture of it on social media. What a fun way to share the gospel! When the questions started flooding in, I realized how much more the mountains meant to me even than when I decided to get it inked on my body.

The tattoo reminds me of home, but since, I’ve found that my home is in God. I get to feel Him so greatly in the mountains because the nature was made to worship Him, yet He loves us so much He gives us to the choice to. It also signifies a pinky promise from Him that He is faithful on the mountain tops and in valleys. And for me it’s a pinky promise that I will praise Him on the mountain and I will praise Him when the mountain’s in my way!! Also He has spoken to me a lot through Psalms 97 and 104 this season which speaks about how the mountains could melt like wax in His presence and pour out smoke at his touch. There are endless biblical references about the mountains which also remind me that He is infinite and there is so much more to learn about Him daily.

I thank God for putting me in this place where I not only have an incredible host family, yummy food, great friends, but I have the mountains. I get to wake up every single morning and look out to see his promises and blessings.

21 days left here in the DR! Pray for our squad to cherish our time and seek God’s goodness in every moment. We are so excited to be reunited with family back home and sad to be parting with our family here. Thank you for following along!

  1. Mountains! So many amazing references In the Bible! Thank you for sharing your heart! (And the reason for that tattoo :)). I love that you love the mountains! I remember moving back to Colorado after having been in Texas for nine years and looking at the mountains in wonder at their majesty and beauty! Then driving Brandon to school every day, you along side, and exclaiming “Look at the mountains guys, aren’t they beautiful?!” And on cue the reply from the backseat, “mom, you say that every day!” And still today, I am filled with awe and wonder at the beauty of God‘s creation! I am so glad the Lord put you exactly where you were supposed to be this year. Neither Covid Nor any other powers can thwart God’s plans! He is good! I can’t believe you’ll be home in 21 days. I am so excited for me, happy and sad for you. Keep soaking up the view! Love you sweet girl! Love , mom 🙂 XOXO

  2. The mountains. The highs and lows, then sharp and hard things, where beauty springs forth from the rock itself. God’s design and such a powerful symbol and reminder for all of us. Thank you for celebrating the mountains today!

Praying for all of F Squad each and every step of these last 21 days!
