It’s true! Squad F did indeed make a trek over the River and through the Jungle, but not to Grandmother’s house… to Steven’s home community, better known as Suiri!

Steven is one of our wonderful YWAM staff that live on base with us here in Puerto Viejo. He has a true passion for the church in his home town. He (and his whole extended family!) welcomed our group from the Puerto Viejo Base to serve alongside them.

Teams Fervent and Quo Vadis went to Suiri last week, and Zao and Mesa went the week before that. There, we did a day of kids ministry, a youth service, and we ran a Sunday worship service with Steven’s church!

We even got to put on a Beauty for Ashes event at a beautiful river for the women of the community!

The church also needed some help with manual labor, so we helped out with some landscaping (which means we moved dirt from point a… to point b.) one day. We also helped clean up the local school in Suiri, which has open air hallways since it is never cold here!

Meanwhile, the teams back on base have been helping construct a house for a family in our community!

Soccer ministry has been a staple this month. Whether we’re sharing our testimonies with elementary aged kids, or getting creamed under stadium lighting by a legitimate Costa Rican women’s soccer team, awesome relationships have been made, and the gospel has been shared in such a fun way.

We spent some time in a community called Bambu this month! Hearing the story of how the church has fought through division and hardship was such a testament to the unifying power of Christ!

We’ve also been doing more concrete pouring, landscaping, and cooking for our base! We love our hosts!

At the beginning of February, we received a crazy amount of rain. While it was fun at first to try to wake board on all the puddles, it quickly became serious for the communities surrounding us. Many houses were flooded, and we got to serve some of our neighbors by helping to clean up as the flood waters receded.

Also, our Man-tor Luis paid us a visit from the states!! It was so encouraging to have a face from the US with us, and if you didn’t already know, he loves the Lord a lot.

That’s a wrap on our ministries in February!

BUT ALSO BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!

WE’RE GOING TO THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC!! We have a few more weeks here in Costa Rica, and then Hispaniola here we come. While we’re so excited for what the Lord has for us in the DR, it is an understatement to say that we’ll miss the people here. So many individuals will have our heart and our prayers as we make the transition to a new place.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

Pray that Jesus would be all that we hold on to.

Health on our squad- don’t worry! No covid over here! But there have been some pretty nasty dengue cases, food poisoning, etc. So pray that our squad can all get feeling better and get back to ministry. Also protection from any potential Covid-19 exposure during our flight to the DR!

A spirit of willingness and joy every day!

Pray for the Churches of Bambu and Suiri! Pray for unity and strength for their congregations, and that they would continue to share the gospel with their communities.

Thank you for all the ways you have loved and supported Squad F! We are so grateful for you!!!

Sincerely,

Squad F!
